Have you been Chromed yet?

In case you haven't heard yet, Google released its new browser Chrome. Microsoft Internet Explorer has 72% browser market share and I don't believe that Chrome will make a big dent into it. I feel this is because we don't really consider browser a productivity tool and we are too lazy to learn how to better use a browser.

So here are two questions for you about Chrome. You can vote here in this post or in the sidebar. (UPDATE: Poll closed)

Any portal/blog/community worth its salt won't be complete without discussing about Chrome. So we must do our bit. Would love to hear more about your experiences, thoughts about Chrome and its release.

T?n? koe Manish!

I must have been one of the first to try Chrome. At least, I got there within 24 hours or so of its release. I haven’t done much with it other than the usual bits and pieces one does with a browser.
BUT . . .

After I’d put it on my WindowsXP machine I attempted to put it onto a machine that ran Windows 2000. No go Jo!

Considering that on that same machine I have upgraded Firefox through all its developments I rather think that, free though Chrome may be, Firefox will have a preferred audience within those with geriatric machines.

Hi Ken
Kei te pehea koe?

I am now using Chrome on Vista and haven’t faced any major problem. It does seem faster than both IE and Firefox. Of course, my company applications that use SharePoint or ASP.NET don’t run very well on Chrome. But then they didn’t run very well on Firefox either. I do miss the plugins of Firefox even though I think they slowed the browser down a bit.

I quite like the simplicity of Chrome. IE I believe is the most complex with the plethora of options. It took me a little while to get used to the fact that there are indeed only so many options to set in Chrome :-).

I wonder how others are experiences Chrome on older operating systems. Google is expected to release new versions/bug fixes of Chrome regularly. Hopefully it will work on older OSs too.

Ka kite ano
